THANKS TO DONORS, VOLUNTEERS, HOSPITALITY HOUSE GOING STRONG

Like all other nonprofits in our county and around the globe, Hospitality House, our local homeless shelter faces economic hard times.
Unfortunately, hard times are nothing new at our house.
Fortunately, as a refuge for the homeless, we're built on a firm foundation of reduced circumstances.
Recently, a reported in this paper, we considered the possibility of closing our summer drop-in center for a brief period in order to economize.
We immediately realized, however, that the consequences of doing so would be dire for our guests, many of whom suffer from illnesses and disabilities.
They rely on Hospitality House for food, relief from the heat, showers, laundry facilities, and access to medical attention and social services.
Hospitality House is a shelter truly by, for, and of the community. Many hundreds of volunteers have helped out on a regular basis, and every day people come by to donate food and other needed items.
People give Hospitality House money, too, and we know that when the chips are down, this community stands by its homeless shelter.
The true fact is that in the almost five years of our existence, we've become too big to fail!
And, too, needed ever to close.
